Super Eagles-B players have been charged to qualify for the 2025 African Nations Championship to prove to everyone that there is still quality in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
This charge was made by a former junior international and proprietor of Youth Arise Football Academy (YAFA), Coach Olagbemiro Olayinka in a chat with Daily Trust yesterday.
Speaking ahead of the return leg of the final qualifying fixture between the Super Eagles B and Black Galaxies of Ghana on Saturday, December 28, the FA Cup winner with Plateau United said failure to qualify for the tournament again would reduce the value of the domestic league.
In the first leg played last Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium, the Super Eagles-B forced their hosts to a goalless draw thereby setting the stage for a feisty contest in the return leg at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.

Coach Yinka said the players must bring their A game if they are to exert revenge against their arch rivals who had denied them the ticket on two previous occasions.
“Some of us have continued to clamour for the home-based players to be given the opportunity to play for the Super Eagles. Therefore, the players must qualify for the next CHAN to market themselves and the domestic league.
“Most times when a case is made for the inclusion of the NPFL players in the senior national team, some people wonder why they should be considered when they can’t even qualify for the CHAN.
“So, such comments should serve as a motivation for the players to put in their best against the Black Galaxies on Saturday. If they fail again, it will be difficult to convince anyone to give them a chance in the main Super Eagles.
“Although the goalless draw in the first leg has reduced the pressure on the players, they must redouble their efforts because the Ghanaians are tricky customers. It is too early to forget how the Black Stars denied the Super Eagles the 2022 World Cup ticket right here in Abuja,” said the member of NFF technical committee.
Coach Yinka also said victory over the Black Galaxies will be a perfect Christmas and New Year gift for the football loving Nigerians.
The winner on aggregate will represent WAFU B at the biennial championship reserved exclusively for professional footballers plying their trade in their country’s domestic leagues.
The 8th edition of the Championship will be hosted by Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda on 1st – 28th February 2025.
