The Coalition 2019 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has petition the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) over the alleged harassment of a former Vice President and its 2019 Presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

The petition jointly signed by Mr. Haruna Abiodun and Hajiya Sadiya Hingir, National Coordinator and National Organizing Secretary respectively urged the NHRC to investigate the recent controversy surrounding the search of Atiku at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja by security agents shortly after his arrival from a foreign trip.

The coalition said the search was an infringement on the fundamental rights of the presidential flag bearer of the PDP in 2019 election by the Buhari-led government.

He said as a presidential candidate and a former vice president, he is privy to immunity or benefit enjoyed by former vice presidents noting that the act of intimidation and harassment cannot be tolerated and should be condemned.
