The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has charged the graduates of Exercise Restore Hope IX to translate their training into victory on the battlefield.

The COAS gave the charge during the graduation ceremony of the exercise, where he congratulated the participants on successfully completing the rigorous training program.

The COAS emphasized the importance of combat excellence, urging the graduates to utilize the skills and knowledge acquired during the exercise to achieve success in their future operations.

He noted that the training was designed to equip them with the necessary competencies to tackle the complex security challenges facing the nation.

The COAS expressed confidence in the ability of the graduates to make a positive impact in their respective units and formations. He charged them to remain focused, disciplined, and committed to their duties, and to always uphold the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.

Exercise Restore Hope IX was a comprehensive training program aimed at enhancing the operational capacity and combat readiness of the Nigerian Army.

The exercise featured a series of lectures, simulations, and field training exercises, and was attended by officers and soldiers from various units and formations across the country.

Speaking at the Final Exercise and Graduation Ceremony held at the Nigerian Army Training Camp, Kachia, Kaduna State, the COAS emphasised that combat excellence, discipline, adaptability and teamwork are essential requirements for success in modern warfare.

“I am proud of each and every one of you for your hard work, dedication, and perseverance. You have demonstrated the qualities of a true soldier, and I have no doubt that you will make a positive impact in your units and formations.

“As you go forth, remember that the Nigerian Army is not just a profession, but a calling. It requires courage, sacrifice, and selflessness. But it also offers a sense of purpose, camaraderie, and fulfillment that is hard to find elsewhere.

“Do not be discouraged by the challenges you will face. Instead, draw on the training and experience you have gained to overcome them. Remember that you are part of a proud tradition of soldiers who have served this nation with honor and distinction.

“Stay focused, stay disciplined, and stay committed to your duties. Always uphold the highest standards of professionalism and integrity, and never forget the oath you have sworn to defend this nation.

“I have every confidence that you will make us proud. Congratulations once again, and may God bless you all.”

Lieutenant General Shaibu described Exercise Restore Hope as a critical component of the Nigerian Army’s transformation agenda, designed to build a professional, resilient and mission-oriented force capable of operating effectively within joint and multi-agency environments.

He noted that the advanced infantry training had equipped the graduating troops with enhanced marksmanship, physical endurance, combat medical skills and the mental resilience required for sustained and high-tempo operations.

The Army Chief stressed that battlefield success must be anchored on professionalism, respect for human rights and accountability, noting that ethical conduct remains vital to maintaining public confidence and operational legitimacy.

The COAS also commended the instructors and facilitators of the exercise for their dedication and hard work in imparting knowledge and skills to the participants.

He urged the graduates to remain grateful to their instructors and to always apply the lessons they learned during the exercise.

In his remarks, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the hosting division, commended the COAS for his vision and leadership, which he said had transformed the Nigerian Army into a more effective and efficient force. He assured the COAS that the graduates were now better equipped to face the security challenges in their areas of responsibility.

The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of certificates and awards to the graduates. The best performing participants were also recognized and rewarded for their outstanding performance.

The graduation ceremony was marked by pomp and pageantry, with a ceremonial parade and a display of military hardware. The event was also attended by representatives of other security agencies and stakeholders.

With the graduation of Exercise Restore Hope IX, the Nigerian Army has once again demonstrated its commitment to training and capacity development.
