The colleges are College of Education, Gumel, Jigawa State, Isa Kaita College of Education, Dutsin-Ma, Federal College of Education, Katsina, College of Education, Maru and Federal College of Education, Technical Gusau as well as the College of Islamic and Legal Studies Ringim, which also trains teachers in Jigawa State.
“The main objective of the CPD programme is to provide adequate opportunities to college lecturers to update, on a regular basis, their knowledge of subject matter content and pedagogy,” a statement by the NCCE Executive Secretary, Professor Muhammed I. Junaid, said.
It will also help the teachers to “build their capacity to use modern teaching techniques based on learner-centred methodologies.”
In order to achieve this, NCCE organised a workshop on Curriculum Design to kick-start the design and development of courses and modules for the Continuing Professional Development (CPD), it said.
The workshop was held from November 10-14. Its main outcomes included the determination of the structure of the CPD programme. A follow-up workshop would be held in Abuja December 1-5, to develop courses and modules for the training of teacher educators in the six institutions.
