The player from Port Harcourt Golf Club carded a combined score of 248 to win the gross prize at the expense of V. Manteau of Benin Golf Club, who returned 254.
Apart from veteran female golfer Maureen Reece who still has her deft touch after twenty years of active participations, Cole-Kotas has also impressed many with her immense ability in the last few years.
The tournament which held at the IBB International Golf and Country Club between 5 to 8 Febraury was a fierce contest played over 54 holes. A field of 45 golfers who made the cut navigated the course.
Racheal Danjuma of IBB Club posted the day’s best round of 81 to finish in third position on count-back rule ahead of Amina Wilfred who shot 256.
C.J Frank of Port Harcourt Golf Club, finished in fifth place, while S. Kadiri of IBB, Blessing Obaje of Otukpo, Grace Amadi of Port Harcourt, Sade Opawunmi of Sagamu and Anita Uwabor of Asaba completed the top 10 players  on the leader-board.
After blowing the field away, Cole- Kotas, was  modest as she described her victory as a particularly tough one that required a lot of skills and patience to emerge victorious.
“It was not a child’s play as it was actually very tough. Though I managed to play well today (Sunday) it was bit tough because the weather was very hot. But I pulled through with patience and skill,” said the player who had represented Nigeria in two world final editions of MTN World Golfers Championship.
The 10-handicapper confessed that the varying conditions the female golfers experienced for the three days of the event was easy to manage because of her experience playing different golf courses in and outside the country.
“You can have rain, sun and wind at the same time, but you must manage your game with the elements which is what I did. My exposure prepared me for this victory,” she said.
All the 45 players who made the final cut out of the 99 that entered for the tournament, were presented with medals in addition to opportunity enhance their world amateur rankings.
The tournament scorer, Nanwor Mamven, appraised the standard of the tournament, which she noted was only restricted to players who boasted of “open form|” and within the prescribed handicap of 0-23.
The Secretary of IBB Club Emmanuel Onyeama said the club was impressed with the turn out of the lady golfers from across the country and the competition they exhibited over three days.
