A contract worth over N34 million has been awarded for the procurement of equipment and consumables in order to meet conditions for the accreditation, authorities said.

Malam Mulima Idi Mato, the provost of the college said the contract included procurement of laboratory equipment, consumables, construction and equipping of veterinary clinic, audio/visual room and abattoir among others.

Mato said the state government attached importance to agriculture because it was the source of livelihood for more than 90 per cent of its people and therefore the need to encourage learning and research in the sector.

“This administration has indicated strong commitment to ensuring the three courses of animal health and production, forestry technology and agricultural technology were approved by relevant authorises” he said.

He said 10 new tractors with complete accessories, ploughs and harrows had also been supplied to the college by the state government.

“The college has adequate manpower for all courses of study in the school, the only thing that denied us accreditation in the past was lack of these equipments whose contracts have now been awarded”, he said.

Mato added that the state government had donated an ambulance to the college so as to boost health care delivery in the institution.
