The National President, Command Jos Old Students Association (COJOSA), Engr. Femi Akingbelu, has called for the revitalization of public schools to boost the education sector.
He said public schools still remain the standard bearers and role models of institutions of learning, initial sports and youth development.
Engr. Akingbelu who spoke in Jos the Plateau state capital at the commissioning of COJOSA Secretariat at Command Secondary School Jos, said the association will soon begin a mentorship scheme for youths.
He said: “The whole idea of the programme is to start a mentorship scheme that will place students of the very youthful age in a cluster of generation so as to take over the activities of the graduating students.
“By doing so, we are bringing the students into the association in order to understand that coming to school is not just about acquiring a certificate but to build a requisite network that will see them survive outside,” he said.
Chairman, Parent Teachers Association (PTA), Dr Shimka Kassam, said they are working to leave good legacies for the school by renovating the skills acquisition centre for better results.
The Commandant of the school, Lt. Col. O. A. Oduyemi, said COJOSA has been making untiring efforts not only in ensuring the transformation of their alma mater but the learning institutions by extension.
