The Niger State Government, in partnership with Overland Airways Limited, has announced the commencement of commercial flight operations from the newly inaugurated Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport in Minna.
Flight operations are scheduled to begin on April 23, 2025, with routes connecting Minna to Abuja and Lagos.
Speaking at a media briefing in Minna, the Chief Executive Officer of Overland Airways, Captain Edward Boyo, described the partnership as a milestone in advancing Governor Mohammed Umar Bago’s vision of infrastructural development.
He said the launch would position Niger State as a hub for trade, investment, and tourism. “This initiative reflects our shared commitment to enhancing national connectivity. Our collaboration with the state government demonstrates that strategic partnerships can bring development closer to the people,” Boyo said. Also speaking, the Chief Operating Officer of New Niger Aviation, Alhaji Liman Katamba Kutigi, said the launch marks more than the opening of a new flight path-it’s the beginning of an economic transformation.

“By partnering with Overland Airways, we are setting a new benchmark for regional air connectivity rooted in safety, reliability, and growth. Our goal is to establish Niger State as a key player in Nigeria’s aviation and logistics corridor,” he said.
The Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport was recently commissioned as part of the state’s broader effort to modernise its infrastructure and stimulate economic development.
