A commercial motorcycle rider, Eric Ayodeji, has been sentenced to three years imprisonment by an Ondo magistrate court in Ondo State for stealing.

Ayodeji, 24, was said to have stolen property belonging to one Taye Adenuoye, on September 21, 2019 at about 11.30pm at No. 5, Oke-Ayadi Street, Ondo town, Ondo State.

The prosecution told the court that the convict also stole the sum of N35,050 belonging to  Adenuoye.

Chief Magistrate Damilola Sekoni jailed Ayodeji without an option of fine, having found him guilty of the offence as charged by the prosecution.

During the arraignment, the convict, who pleaded guilty to the charges against him, prayed for forgiveness.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Charles Olagbayi, told the court to give judgment according to the defendant’s plea.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Damilola Sekoni, said he had considered Ayodeji’s plea and sentenced him to three years imprisonment without an option of fine.

Sekoni said though the convict looked sober during trial, he should be reminded of the biblical injunction that a sinner shall not go unpunished.

He said the sentence would serve as deterrent to others with similar motive.

The magistrate also directed prison officials to enrol the convict in a programme to learn a skill while in custody.
