The Jigawa State Commissioner for Special Duties, Mr. Auwalu Danladi Sankara, has returned N301 million in unutilized funds to the state treasury.

The money was part of the allocation released for the Ramadan feeding programme.

The initiative, which provided food assistance to thousands of residents during the holy month, was successfully completed. Following a comprehensive financial review, the ministry identified a surplus. Rather than allow the balance to be absorbed or misused, Sankara returned the funds to the government.

Speaking at the official handover in Dutse, the commissioner said the refund was driven by a sense of responsibility.

“After executing the Ramadan feeding programme, we had over N301 million left. This money belongs to the people, and it should be returned to serve them further,” he stated.

The Secretary to the State Government, who accepted the returned funds on behalf of the administration, commended Sankara’s action and described it as a model of transparency that aligns with Governor Umar Namadi’s commitment to accountability and good governance.
