The Association of Commonwealth Natural/Herbal Medicine Practitioners has opened a secretariat in Kaduna state to cater for the northern region and the federal capital territory.
Speaking at the official opening of the secretariat, the national president of the association, Mohammed Salihu (Dan Massani) explained that the northern region is the first to have a secretariat under the association in Nigeria.
The secretariat located at Magaji Gari he said was donated by the Kaduna North Local Government of the state.
While he noted that the secretariat has a temporary status, he appealed to the Governor of Kaduna state, Nasir El-Rufai to provide a permanent secretariat to the association to enable it function effectively in the execution of its programme of providing good and effective healthcare delivery system to the people.
According to him, the duties of the association includes promoting natural roots, herbs and other medicaments for the cure of diseases in conforming with the guideline provided under the healthcare delivery system in Nigeria as well as promote collaboration among researches in natural and herbal medicine in Nigeria among others.
The Association of Commonwealth Natural/Herbal Medicine Practitioners in Nigeria came into being in 2001 and was registered in 2017 under the Cooperate Affairs Commission (CAC) to have legal backing to run its affairs.
The Commonwealth Science Council Communiqué of June 15, 2001 led to the formation of the National Association of Nigerian Tradition Medicine Practitioners (NANTMP), facilitated by the Federal Ministry of Health.
