Nwaubani, who won the prize for Africa region several week ago, will be contending with other regional winners in the category from different regions of the world. She is in the running for her first novel, I Do Not Come to You by Chance, which tackles the issue of email scams and the poeple behind them.

The writer has been in New Delhi for a weeklong event that will culminate Tuesday with the announcement of the winner.

Also, South Africa’s Marie Heese (author of The Double Crown) will be gunning for the overall price of the Best Book alongside other regional winners.

In a related development, the Lumina Foundation, organisers of the Wole Soyinka Prize for literature have announced the final shortlist for this year’s prize.

The three shortlisted candidates are Wale Okediran, former ANA president for his book Tenants of the House, Adaobi Tricia Nwaubani for I Do Not Come to You by Chance and South Africa’s Kopano Matlwa completes the trio with his novel, Coconut.

Winner of the prize will be announced April 30th.
