The Gbagyi Youth Progressive Union (GYPU), Kaduna State, has expressed concern over the spate of insecurity along the Abuja-Kaduna road and some parts of the state.

The union said Chikun Local Government Area which is the base of Gbagyi people and has a large portion along the Abuja-Kaduna highway is almost sacked by the bandits’ activities.

Chairman of GYPU, Comrade Ibrahim Ayuba Wadason, said government must do what it can to adopt a workable solution to curtail the situation and save lives and property of the people living in the area and travellers.

He expressed worry that the road, which is a major link to many northern states and the capital city, is becoming a death trap, saying, “something needs to be done before it goes out of hands.”

Comrade Ibrahim Wadason, who was re-elected to pilot the affairs of the union in the state for the second term said the task ahead of the union was to unite people especially youths, irrespective of religious, cultural and political differences to come  together in order to assist government to manage the problem.

Commenting on the situation, a Gbayi youth, comrade Elisha Abashe Junior, said though government is doing its best, there is a need to redouble efforts towards creating additional programmes that could help youths to increase their daily earnings as a step to addressing the menace.
