Kanem Trust reports that the state government   awarded contract for the construction of pilot boarding primary schools in all the local government areas of the state in 2007.

However, two years after awarding the contracts, some of the schools have been completed while others are at the mercy of contractors, who are working slowly or have withdrawn their workers out of site.

Malam Inusa Malami of Yindiski ward in Potiskum lamented that the boarding school in their locality is yet to be completed and therefore called on Governor Ibrahim Gaidam to call the contractors to order so that children who were ready  to be enrolled would not be waiting in vain.

Our correspondent reports that part of the wisdom behind the establishment of the boarding primary school system was to encourage the acquisition of formal education which would be blended with religious studies.

Many parents in parts of the state prefer to sent their children and wards to informal school but authorities in the state decided to build the boarding schools which would be free of charge with other incentives including feeding, books and clothing to encourage parents to allow their children to attend.

The commissioner for education Alhaji Mohammed Lamin had during an interview with pressmen assured that the schools would soon take off.
