The youths of Gurfata, Ikka and Shidna, under the umbrella of the Gurfata Youths Vanguard (GYV), have presented a list of critical infrastructural challenges to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chairmanship candidate in Gwagwalada Area Council, Mohammed Kasim Ikwa. 

The group highlighted a lack of access roads, a shortage of potable water, inadequate healthcare facilities, and growing security concerns.

The leader of the group, Ibrahim Hussaini, spoke on behalf of the youths during a meeting with the chairmanship candidate in Gurfata. 

He said the absence of viable social amenities has been a major burden on residents for many years.

Hussaini noted that while politicians have historically promised to provide infrastructure during electioneering campaigns, such promises are rarely kept once the elections are over. 

The youth group appealed to the PDP candidate to break this cycle and provide the needed infrastructure if he assumes the mantle of leadership.

Formally endorsing Kasim Mohammed Ikwa for the February 21 council poll, the group pledged to work tirelessly for his victory at the polls.

Also speaking at the event, the former Chairman of the council, Adamu Mustapha Danze, stressed the importance of unity and focus. 

He urged residents of Gurfata, Ikka, and Shidna to vote exclusively for the PDP candidate.

 In his response, Kasim Mohammed, expressed his appreciation for the youths’ initiative, trust, and solidarity. 

He assured them that he had carefully noted their concerns and pledged to act decisively to address their needs if elected.
