Community commends Dokubo-Asari’s leadership, seeks partnership for peace, development

The Adumu-Ama Community in Kula Kingdom, Rivers State, has commended the Amanyanabo of the Source (Elem Kalabari, Torusaramapiri), Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, for what it described as his effective leadership and support towards the growth and stability of the community.

The commendation was made during a courtesy visit by the King of Adumu-Ama Community, HRH (Engr.) Barlow Harrison Adokiye, Ogoye Kala-Amafia IX, alongside the Amanyanabo and Natural Ruler of Kula Kingdom, HRH King Sir (Dr.) Kroma Amabibi Eleki, JP, Sara XIV, chiefs, community leaders, women and youth groups, to Dokubo-Asari’s residence in Degema.

Speaking during the visit, King Adokiye expressed appreciation to the Amanyanabo of the Source for his role in the successful coronation that led to his ascension to the throne in 2024.

The monarch described Dokubo-Asari’s guidance, moral support and influence as instrumental to his emergence as king, noting that the support provided a foundation for stability and leadership in the community.

He also sought sustained collaboration with the traditional ruler, saying he would continue to rely on his counsel and experience in the administration of Adumu-Ama Community.

According to him, closer cooperation between Adumu-Ama and Elem Kalabari would promote peace, unity and sustainable development within the community and across Kula Kingdom.

Also speaking, the Amanyanabo and Natural Ruler of Kula Kingdom, King Kroma Amabibi Eleki, thanked Dokubo-Asari for his continued goodwill and support for the people of Kula.

He said Kula people identify strongly with Elem Kalabari, which he described as the ancestral cradle of the Kalabari people, adding that the visit was aimed at strengthening the relationship between Kula Kingdom and Elem Kalabari for mutual progress.

King Eleki further commended the Amanyanabo of the Source for his support to Adumu-Ama Community and his commitment to the welfare of the people.

In his remarks, Dokubo-Asari expressed concern over what he described as decades of neglect, deprivation and underdevelopment of Kula Kingdom despite its status as an oil-producing area and its contributions to the nation’s economy.

He urged governments at all levels to prioritise the development needs of the kingdom, warning that continued neglect could threaten the economic wellbeing and social advancement of the people.

The traditional ruler also attributed some of the challenges facing the kingdom to prolonged internal disputes and divisions, particularly those arising from chieftaincy-related conflicts.

He called on all stakeholders in Kula Kingdom to embrace reconciliation and work together in the interest of development.

“There should be an end to litigation. It is time for all warring factions and well-meaning people of Kula to engage in introspection, put an end to all internal wranglings and embrace peace for the progress and posterity of Kula Kingdom,” he said.

The delegation included the President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ambassador Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo, who is an indigene of Kula Kingdom.

The visit, according to community leaders, was aimed at reinforcing unity, strengthening traditional ties and fostering collaboration for peace and sustainable development in Kula Kingdom.
