Community demands emirate in Southern Kaduna LGA

Governor Nasir El-Rufai

The Hausa community in Chikun Local Government Area (LGA) of Kaduna State has called on the state Governor, Nasir el-Rufai, to create an emirate for it in the council.

The community under the auspices of Cibiyar Na-Tanko, a social cultural group, noted that the Hausa in Chikun, like those in Kajuru, Sanga Kauru, Kagarko, Zangon Kataf and Lere LGAs, deserved an emirate for peace and unity.

The Chairman of Cibiyar Na-Tanko, Alhaji Aminu Idris (Turakin Nasarawa) and the Secretary, Yusuf Muhammad Yunus, urged the state government to make effort towards the actualisation of the emirate.

They said, “Our community will continue to request and demand that an emirate be created for Hausa people in Chikun LGA as is the case in other LGAs.

“We also wish to categorically state that our community and local government have never been part of Zone 3 (Southern Kaduna). That any attempt or effort being made by groups or political jobbers to drag Chikun into any alliance must stop as Chikun and Kajuru remain part of Zone 2.”

The group said that was what the law said; that Chikun and Kajuru were part of Zone 2, and so should it be.

The group further lauded Gov. El-Rufai for his untiring effort in liberating marginalised communities in the state.

They also commended the Sole Administrator of Chikun LGA, Hajiya Hadiza Ladi Yahuza, for her commitment to peaceful co-existence among the diverse communities in the LGA.
