The Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria (CHPRBN) has inducted 555 community Health Officers (CHO).
Speaking during the induction ceremony in Abuja, the Registrar of CHPRBN, Alhaji Idris Bashir, said the 555 CHOs from 15 accredited teaching hospitals in the country would join the ranks of those who had come before them in serving their communities.
While noting that access to quality healthcare remained a challenge for many Nigerians, particularly those in rural areas, he said, “In most communities, health care is a mirage and many are cut off from the main healthcare facility. CHOs are pivotal to achieving tremendous success in this dispensation.”
The Chairman of the governing board, Sule Galadima Toma, said 558 candidates registered for the last CHO national examination of the board, out of which 555 were successful, representing a 98 per cent pass rate.
