The People of Dokbi Community recently ravaged by flood in Bogoro Local Government Area of Bauchi state have cried out for intervention from Bauchi state government.

The community called for immediate rescue from impending flood in the area.

The Chairman of Community Road Maintenance Committee in Dokbi,
Iliya Dokbi  who made the plea on Friday during a road and culvert reconstruction work initiated by the community at the Dokbi River, said that the flood has swept away the only main culvert into the village.

Farmlands, crops and properties worth millions of naira have all been destroyed.

He appeals to the Bauchi state government and Bogoro local government council as well as relevant authorities to salvage their community from imminent lost of lives and properties,

According to him, “Since the beginning of this year’s raining season our people have always take risk to move from one village to another because of the flood and social lives had become terrible.”

Speaking during the exercise, the Community Leader, Samaila Basha, said that the perennial flood has brought untold hardship to the residents, especially women who had found it difficult to access healthcare during childbirth and nursing children.

When contacted the Sole Administrator of Bogoro LGA, Alhaji Abba Isah Salihu said government is already aware of the situation in Dokbi and other areas affected by flood.

He urged the people to remain calm, adding that the Bauchi state Government will intervene as it has started in Gambar Lere and Gambar Sabon Layi.

He enjoined communities ravaged by flood to report it to the Local Government Emergency Unit to enable the council take action.

He noted that the local government had directed the Works Department to take stock of all communities affected by flood.
