The Karu Gbagyi Development Association (KAGBADA), an umbrella body of indigenous people in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has expressed sorrow over the death of the chairman of the Karu Chiefdom Kingmakers, Chief Daudu Jezhi.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the chairman of KAGBADA, Sumner Shagari Sambo, described the late Jezhi who also held the traditional title of Adogo of Karu, as a pillar of the community and a custodian of its history.

He said the association received news of Jezhi’s passing with shock, noting that his contributions to the preservation and development of Karu chiefdom would not be forgotten.

Sambo described the deceased, fondly called Baba Salasi, as a man of integrity and courage who dedicated his life to the service of his people.

“We have lost a father, a mentor, a shield for many, a community defender, an FCT mobiliser and a statesman. Karu will never forget your sacrifices for our people,” he said.

He added that Jezhi remained steadfast in defending the interests of the chiefdom and strengthening its traditional institutions.

“Even when others chose the easiest path, you stood firm to build and fight for Karu till the end. The memory of the righteous is blessed,” he stated.

The association prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul, describing his death as a significant loss to the community.

The late Chief Daudu Jezhi reportedly died on Saturday after a protracted illness at his residence. He has since been buried at his hometown in Karu, Abuja.
