The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Ahmed Iliyasu, yesterday said the Presidential directive on community policing has been yielding positive results in the fight against crime in the state.

Illiyasu said this at the police headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, during the presentation of a Prado jeep to the command by members of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Ogijo Division, Shagamu.

He said that with the adoption of community policing through the PCRC, the police had been able to reduce crime rate and ensure protection of lives and property in the state.

“We are using community policing to douse many crises and challenges in Ogun State. That is called strategic engagement. The PCRC has come to stay in Ogun. We are enjoying the robust relationship between the PCRC and police in Ogun State. The peace in the state is now attracting investments and industry,” he said.

On the 2019 election, the police Commissioner said the police would remain non-partisan and warned politicians to avoid any act that may thwart peaceful conduct of the elections in the state.
