Residents of Ungwar Galadima in Lafia, the state capital, have appealed to Governor Abdullahi Sule to come to their aid and save them from the gully erosion devastation in the area.

The leader of the residents in Lafia Local Government Area, Galadima Lafia, Alhaji Mohammed Jibrin, said the yearly expansion of the gully has taken over 15 per cent of their land.

“My people suffer the worst impact of the menace every rainy season as a result of the abandoned drainage system in Lafia metropolitan all of which run to the Amba River, constituting a serious waterlog around our houses in Ungwar Galadima,” he said.

He added that the erosion menace has resulted to a fast expanding gully that affects up to 30 residential homes and subjects them to excessive degradation from the waterlogged gullies.

The Galadima Lafia stressed that both government agencies and politicians had been going to inspect the level of damage caused by the erosion in the area, but nothing has been done to remedy the situation.

“I pray Governor Sule will hear about the problem. I am very optimistic that once he hears he will definitely take his time to come over and see things for himself. I have confidence too that he will complete this abandoned drainage project,” he said.
