Oodua Trust gathered that Sanni engaged one of the petrol attendants in hot argument over whether the fake money in question was paid by him.
Dissatisfied with Sanni’s explanation, the petrol attendant called the attention of his colleagues to the issue which later degenerated to a fight. The petrol attendant with the aid of his colleagues beat the middle aged driver to death before he was taken to Ikare General Hospital morgue.
The action was said to have aggravated the situation as the colleagues of the late mini bus driver stormed the filling station and vandalized properties running into millions of naira.
Some of the workers in the filling stations were however unlucky as they sustained various degrees of injuries in the melee.
The aggrieved mini bus drivers also moved quickly to another filling station allegedly owned by the person where Sanni was killed
The quick intervention of men of the Ikare police station was the saving grace as the irate mob fled when they spotted police vehicles.
The image maker of the Ondo State Police Command, Adeniran Aremu who confirmed the incident, said police authorities were presently investigating the matter with a view to punishing the perpetrators of the crime.
He said the situation had now been brought under control, stressing that the people of the area were going on with their normal business activities.
