The Millennium Citi Center Community Development Association, formerly known as Oke Alo Estate at Kosofe Local Government Area of Lagos State, has raised an alarm over fraudulent activities of land grabbers in the area.
In a statement, the community called on Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to intervene and save their lives.
Secretary and Chairman of the aggrieved residents, Pharmacist Kingsley Okeke and Soji Adeniji, who signed the statement, said the land grabbers have continued to compromise and sabotage the security of the estate.
The statement read, “Our Estate has been invaded several times in the past by Omo Oniles, and touts from the Ashamu, Arunrase, Anthonio Da Miranda and Alashe areas, which are currently embroiled in feud over the ownership of the expanse land on which the Estate is situated.
“Incidentally, all Property Owners within the Estate purchased their lands from one or the other of the above and have obtained their Title Deeds. We had, overtime, through the efforts of the Residents, Improved the Estate appreciably, and in collaboration with the different tiers of government, and as active CDAS, constructed and maintained our roads, drainages, street light, perimeter fencing and regularly clear he adjoining canals.
“This has enhanced the standard of living, and increased the value of properties within the Estate. Your Excellency, as a recognized and responsible Community Development Association (CDA), we had twice received grant from the Lagos State Government. Regrettably, however, these Omo-Oniles have continued to compromise and sabotage the security of the Estate, by incessant invading the Estate with thence of forcefully taking over undeveloped properties, or yet to be built up), for purposes of selling to unsuspecting land prospectors at a prohibitive price and have used various dangerous weapons on each occasion to perpetuate their clandestine intent. We discovered that virally al the families ae embroiled in Litigation at various Courts in Lagos.
“We, therefore, respectfully urge your Excellency to intervene, so that law and order can be maintained. Their heinous activities have repeatedly exposed the 2000-srong Members/Residents to danger, often throwing them into a sate of commotion, pandemonium, and serious apprehension!
“We are, thus, constrained to openly send this SOS to, Your Excellency, as our Estate was on, Saturday, July 31st, 2021, invaded in a Commando style by several unidentified touts.”
