The Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN) has called on Muslim stakeholders in the region to comply with the directive of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) on the end of Ramadan.

Executive Secretary/CEO of MUSWEN, Prof Dawud Noibi made the call in a statement made available to newsmen as the 1439 Ramadan fast draws to a close.

 

 

The NSCIA under the presidency of Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar had directed Muslim ummah to look out for the new moon of Shawwal from Thursday signaling the end of the annual Ramadan.

 

 

MUSWEN said by NSCIA’s directive, the 29th day of Ramadan falls on Thursday, 14th June, 2018.

 

"As such, the search for the crescent for the month of Shawwal 1439H shall be after sunset on Thursday, 14th June, 2018", Noibi said.

 

 

He said in the statement, "Depending on the outcome of the search for the crescent and the subsequent formal pronouncement by the Sultan of Sokoto/President-General of NSCIA, His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, Eidul Fitr can only fall on either Friday, 15th June, 2018 (if Ramadan is 29 days) or Saturday, 16th June, 2018 (if Ramadan is 30 days).

 

"We, therefore, request all stakeholders to fully comply with NSCIA’s directive. May Allah strengthen the unity of the Ummah and accept our ‘ibadaat in Ramadan."
