The conference approved this provision Wednesday while considering and adopting the report of the committee on citizenship, immigration and related matters at the plenary.
The plenary adopted this provision after a delegate Barrister Chris Abongade proposed the amendment, arguing that the omission of tribe, religion and language of Nigerians during the 2006 national census created many problems.
He said for effective national census, the tribe, religion and language of people should be reflected during their enumeration.
The plenary later approved the amendment when it was adopting the report.
The plenary also approved the recommen-dation by the committee that for proper integration of Nigerians indigenous langua-ges should be adopted as a language of ins-truction from primary one to three.
The report said the national census exercise should be preceded by the development of a full scale integrated national database.
The committee also recommended enactment of law by the National Assembly to criminalise any attempt by census officials or members of the public to inflate or distort in anyway, the outcome census exercise.
