A conference planned by the Faculty of Social Sciences of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and the International Institute for Security and Governance Studies to honour women in security, defence, law enforcement and the judiciary has been postponed to July.

A release signed by the faculty’s Dean, Professor Paul Pindar Izah, noted that the postponement was to accommodate requests for more institutional participation. The statement reads in part: “The new date is July 18 to 20, 2017, at the NAF Conference Centre, Abuja.”

The conference is aimed at providing a forum to address the important issues regarding girl-child education and violence against women, as well as provide a platform to build solid networks and address peculiar gender issues that will promote women performance in the society, on and off their jobs.

The statement further read: “While the honours and awards will identify, recognise, reward and celebrate the significant achievements of women in these sectors, the event will attract the participation of the international community, distinguished women and women groups from all over Nigeria.”
