Whereas the APC governorship candidate in the state, Odey Ochicha, has accepted defeat and congratulated Ayade, the party’s chairman in the state, Pastor Usani Usani, has called for the outright cancellation of all elections in the state.
Ayade swept the poll by scoring 342,016 votes to defeat Ochicha, who scored 53,983.
Ochicha had in a statement yesterday, said: “This morning, I called on my opponent, the PDP gubernatorial candidate and the winner of last Saturday’s governorship election in the state, Prof. Ben Ayade to congratulate him on his victory.’’
But Usani said the presidential, National Assembly, governorship to state House of Assembly elections in the state were characterised by fraud, killings, brutality, mayhem, electoral malpractices, arrest of his staff and party supporters.
Reporting to international observers at the APC secretariat in Calabar, Usani said there were no elections in over 80 per cent of the state, accusing PDP of sponsoring intimidation, rigging and carting away of ballot boxes, using men in police uniform to brutalise and shoot APC agents and supporters.
