Reports speak of confusion at the voting collation centre in Ikeja, Lagos after PDP candidate Mutiu Okunola stormed the venue to insist he won the Ikeja Federal constituency.

He alleged he was hearing “different results”

As he faced the Returning Officer, Okunola said, “I know I have won this election but I am hearing a different result. I have come to defend the votes of people of Ikeja and if you don’t declare the original result, there would be deaths here today”.

He immediately pulled up the table being used for the collation, flung away the result sheets thereby creating confusion in the hall even as accredited observers and journalists in the hall immediately ran out.

Okunola later collapsed outside the hall and was rushed out of the premises in his Sienna car accompanied by security men.

While the drama was going on, security agents also sent out his supporters who were at the collation centre.

However, his supporters started protesting outside the gate of Ikeja Local Government, insisting Okunola won the election.

Our correspondent reports that party agents, observers and journalists arrived the collation centre as early as 7:00 a.m in the morning with only result from one ward out of the 10 wards making up the federal constituency.

Ikeja is the constituency of the APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

Police spokesman, Chike Oti confirmed to our correspondent yesterday that the lawmaker has been arrested. “The man has been arrested. He is being questioned,” he said.
