There is confusion in the All Progressives Congress (APC) over a protest letter purportedly written by the party’s national chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, to the party’s presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, regarding the composition of the 2023 Presidential Campaign Council.

The secretary of the campaign council, James Faleke, had on Friday last week released a 422-member list of the party’s presidential campaign council with President Muhammadu Buhari as chairman.

But a letter purportedly written by the APC National Chairman, Sen. Adamu said the list was not approved by the NWC and should be withdrawn.

However, in a swift reaction, APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, said Adamu didn’t transmit any protest letter to Tinubu, stressing that the party was united.

But sources at the APC National Secretary said the letter was authentic, but leaked, hence the statement by the party’s spokesman.

One of the sources said, “It’s a leaked letter. It’s authentic. What Morka did was damage control.”

Our correspondent reports that the National Working Committee (NWC) in their meeting on Wednesday, expressed their grievances over the composition of the campaign council and resolved that the list be rejigged to protect their interests.

Meanwhile, the North Central Woman Leader of the APC, Princess Zahrah Mustapha Audu, has kicked off the 2023 political campaign in schools in Abuja.

With the lifting of the ban on election campaigns by INEC, political parties and their candidates are already setting machinery in motion to galvanise support.

She visited the Government Primary School, Usafa, Bwari and Nomadic School all in Bwari Area Council of Abuja where she distributed education materials such as bags, books and other stationeries to the pupils.

The campaign team was received by the management of the schools, who appreciated their support for students in the schools via the educational materials distributed to enhance learning.

While addressing the students, she encouraged them to remain focused and committed to their education as the path toward attaining greatness in life and becoming successful citizens.
