Confusion over LAWSAN exco’s impeachment

There are divergent accounts about the purported impeachment of the executive committee of the Law Students Association of Nigeria (LAWSAN) headed by Dr Blessing Agbomhere.
While the senate of LAWSAN and LAWSAN Resistance Group have claimed that Dr Agbomhere was impeached and suspended alongside the National Clerk, Senator Ibrahim Adamu Ibrahim, the executive of the association has denied the development.

A letter titled: “Impeachment of the Executive President, Dr Blessing Agbomhere”, and dated August 23, 2021, signed by the National President of the Senate, Emmanuel Williams and acting National Chief, Sen Christopher Nwusulor; and a press release by the LAWSAN Resistance Group dated August 24, 2021, all indicated Agbomhere’s impeachment.
Isiyaku Danlawan of LAWSAN Resistance Group, which congratulated Miss Harriet Eluma as the new president, accused Agbomhere of “running the organisation with fascist impunity, impulsive rascality and unmatched irresponsibility.”
Reacting, Agbomhere said the executive was focused on organising the national convention of the association on October 29 and 30 after which there would be elections.
He said, “There is nothing like me being impeached. Some believe that if an election is held, somebody who may not be in their interest will emerge. So, that is why they are trying to cause chaos in the association.”
Agbomhere, whose tenure expires October 6, further said the executive was on the path to reposition the association for the good of all law students in Nigeria.
