As part of efforts to mitigate the escalating crisis in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), the Congolese community in Abuja held a special prayer breakfast session on Saturday.

The event brought together community members, religious leaders, and the diplomatic communities of Congo resident in Nigeria to pray for peace and stability in the DRC.

The session, held at the Abuja Community Center, saw a large turnout of Congolese nationals and supporters.

It began with a moment of silence for the victims of the conflict, followed by prayers led by local religious leaders. Attendees also shared personal stories and experiences, highlighting the impact of the crisis on their families and communities.

During the session, speakers emphasized the importance of unity and solidarity in the face of adversity. They called on the international community to take stronger action to address the humanitarian crisis and support peace efforts in the DRC.

Pascaline Gerengbo Yakivu, Ambassador of the DRC to Nigeria, called on Congolese to “shun every form of hate speech that destroys the unity and togetherness of our nation.”

Arlette Ambunga Idris, the president of the Congolese community in Nigeria, said: “It is painful to experience what is happening right now. I pray the lord answers our prayer and restores peace in the country.”

The event concluded with a collective pledge to continue advocating for peace and providing support to those affected by the conflict.

The special prayer breakfast session served as a powerful reminder of the resilience and determination of the Congolese community in Abuja.
