The Nyimatli Development Association (NDA), has renewed calls for the zoning of the Gombe Central senatorial seat to Yamaltu/Deba Local Government Area ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The group made its position known during a press briefing in Gombe, where its Secretary, Emmanuel Usman, spoke on behalf of the association’s executive members and stakeholders from the area.
Usman said the demand reflects the collective aspiration of the people of Yamaltu/Deba, stressing that the call is rooted in the need to ensure balanced political representation within the senatorial district.
Gombe Central Senatorial District comprises two local government areas Akko and Yamaltu/Deba.
According to him, a rotational arrangement of the Senate seat between the two councils remains the most equitable approach.
He noted that the current occupant of the seat, Senator Danjuma Goje, an indigene of Akko LGA, would have spent 16 years in the Senate by the end of his present tenure.
“This prolonged stay has created a sense of imbalance in the district. Equity demands that after 16 years in Akko, the seat should now return to Yamaltu/Deba,” he added.

Usman further stated that the people of the area, particularly the Tera community, feel marginalised and are eager to produce the next senator.
