They called for collaboration among the seven professionals in the construction industry to face challenges confronting it.
The legal adviser to BCPG and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Mr Femi Falana who commended the group for its efforts to save lives of Nigerians that should not have been wasted, regretted that practitioners in the industry have over the years allowed quacks to dominate the sector leading to the various collapse building incidents.
Falana condemned the situation where foreigners have taken over the construction industry more especially with governments that preferred to give construction job to them than the local experts.
He urged practitioners to rise up and challenge the situation.
He explained that the judiciary had similar experience years back where foreigners practically took over the sector until this was fought.
He said, “There’re many laws in the building industry that say you cannot practice without requisite qualification by the relevant council.
“Why have you allowed your profession to be taken over by foreign and local quacks?”
He urged members of the group and other professionals in the sector to assemble all the laws in the industry and put them together and apply them so that they can tackle challenges confronting the industry.
