Two construction workers who allegedly beat their co-worker to death during a brawl on Tuesday appeared before a Lagos High Court Judge, Justice Sedoten Ogunsanya.

Emmanuel Udoh and Mohammed Saidu, whose residential addresses were not given, are standing trial on a one-count charge of murder.

The Prosecutor, Mr. K. N. Bamgbose, said the two committed the alleged offence on February. 5, 2016, on Ijaye Road, Ojokoro in Lagos State.

He said the accused allegedly caused the death of Mukilah Oluseye by beating him with their fists.

One of the accused, Udoh, pleaded not guilty to the charge, while the second accused, Saidu, told the court that he understood only Hausa language. His plea, however, was not taken as no interpreter was present in court.

Justice Ogunsanya, however, remanded the accused persons in prison.

She said the plea of the second defendant would be taken on February. 27, when a Hausa interpreter would be available in court.

She however, adjourned the case until May 9 for trial. (NAN)
