Works are in the final stage to complete the computerized lands administration system introduced by Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, two years ago.
A&K Construction, the same contractor that handled the remodeling of an old and abandoned structure in Mararaba, into a world standard complex housing the computerized lands administration called Nasarawa Geographic Information Service (NAGIS), is handling the construction of the Lafia office which will be linked with the Mararaba complex through the computers.
NDP is an initiation of Siraj Consulting Engineers, Aeroprecisa Limited, and GIS Transport, and Nasarawa State Ministry of Lands, on which shoulders have been added Urban Development – partners in the totality of the habitat project called NAGIS which execution is expected to phase out slums, and in their place, build liveable and sustainable cities in the state.
The ongoing project to provide a structure to house NAGIS in Lafia is designed as the headquarters of the GIS while the complex in Mararaba will serve as the main hub to stream in all components of the habitat project.
Sonny Agassi, state Commissioner for Lands and Urban Development told Daily Trust that the construction was designed to be delivered in a short time to complete the execution of a project which he described as “close to the governor’s heart.” Project Manager of NAGIS, Alhaji Ibrahim Usman Jibril said when completed, the centre in Mararaba which will serve as a hub, will have all of the computers in the state Ministry of Lands, as well as the NAGIS headquarters seen in Lafia and in Mararaba.
