 The Federal Government has said contractors handling road projects across the country will maintain some level of presence on project sites in the bid to ensure good motorable roads across the country.
The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Works, Dauda S. Kigbu disclosed this after a meeting with senior officials of the ministry and major contractors handling road projects across the country.
The meeting discussed the challenges confronting the road sector. A statement signed last week by the Director of Information in the Ministry, Bisi Agbonhin said the meeting resolved that the ministry will resolve the outstanding issues to enable contractors execute the various projects they are handling.
According to the statement, while the contractors noted the pressure on the national budget and dwindling revenue, they appreciated the efforts of the Federal Government in confronting the challenges, particularly funding of projects.
The major  contractors that attended the meeting are: Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, CCECC Nigeria Limited, Setraco Nigeria Limited, CGC Nigeria Limited, Gitto Construzioni General Nigeria Limited, Triacta Nigeria Limited, Salini Nigeria Limited and Borini Prono & Co. Nigeria Limited.
Others include: Arab Contractors Nigeria Limited, Bulletine Construction Nigeria Limited, Mothercat Construction Limited and P.W Nigeria Limited.
