Senator representing Ogun East, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, on Monday, accused Governor Dapo Abiodun and his government of lacking moral right to have served a quit and demolition notice on his residence.

Daniel, who was governor of the state, said a contravention notice should first be served on Abiodun’s personal house located along the highway in Iperu – Remo, Ikenne Local Government Area of the state.

Daily Trust reports the state government served a quit and demolition notice on Daniel’s private residence and hotels in Sagamu.

The structures marked are his residence, popularly known as Asoludero court and Conference hotel, its annex, all located at Obafemi Awolowo Avenue GRA, Sagamu.

Daniel had described the notice as a political persecution by the government, but Abiodun hit back at him, saying the notice was part of a statutory land audit.

The governor in a statement by his Media Aide, Kayode Akinmade, asked Daniel to submit himself to the law, saying nobody is above the state.

Addressing newsmen on Monday at his Asoludero court, Sagamu, Daniel who spoke through his Media Aide, Steve Oliyide, accused Abiodun of
trying to create chaos and confusion in the state.

He said a building constructed in 2004 could not be said to have lacked planning permit and road setback.

Oliyide said Abiodun’s house along Iperu – Ode Road in his home town lacks a setback and therefore such contravention notice should first be served on the governor’s residence.

He said “Governor Dapo Abiodun is trying to create chaos in Ogun State. Governor Dapo Abiodun is trying to create confusion in Ogun State.

“When you are talking about a house inside a GRA; we have always assumed that houses in the estate are the most secure and safe in terms of documentation.

“What about the house in Iperu that’s on the highway? Where’s the setback? I want to see a contravention notice served on Prince Dapo Abiodun’s house in Iperu.

“I want to see the notice served on that house that’s aborting an express and a major highway, Iperu – Ode road. If he has not served it, he has no moral justification and moral responsibility to serve anybody notice in Ogun State.”

Oliyide said Daniel has always maintained peace in face of provocation because of his regards for President Bola Tinubu whom he described as the leader.

“The president will hear our voice loud and clear. All the peace we are holding is in his honour. We can fight if we are pushed to it.”

“We want to maintain peace on behalf of the President in Ogun State,” he said.

He, however, vowed to take all lawful means to stop the alleged plans by the government to demolish the structures.
