The Executive Chairman, FCT Universal Basic Education Board (UBEB), Alhaji Umar Barau, said this at the presentation of a borehole and ultra-modern toilet block by Rotary Club of Abuja at the LEA Primary School, Tunga Maje.
Barau who was represented by Bar. Benjamin O. said developing education in the territory is a task too big to be left in the hands of government alone.
He said everybody should join hands to invest in education for a guaranteed future adding that “the UBE motto of education for all is the responsibility of all.”
He said other service organisations in the territory should emulate Rotary Club. “The Rotary Club of Abuja District 9125 is fulfilling the dream and mandate of the FCT Administration policy of adopting a school. We are all witnesses to infrastructural development that have occurred at LEA Primary School Tunga Maje since Rotary Club of Abuja adopted the school.”
The President, Rotary Club of Abuja, Mr. Ezenwa Amummu, said community development is what the organisation stands for and represents.
He said: “We are here to support the efforts of teachers and pupils to acquire education in a conducive environment and therefore urge the teachers to increase their efforts in giving the pupils their best.”
While commending the club members for their humanitarian services, the president implored the teachers and pupils to put the facilities to good use. The school’s head teacher, Mrs. Ugwuanyi Christiana, said the water and toilet facilities are of good standard that can stand the test of time. She commended the club for its effort in repositioning education in the territory.
