In unprecedented scenes, people across India came out on their balconies and clapped, rang bells, blew the conch shells and beat metal plates to show their gratitude to doctors, health workers, police, government officials, essential service providers and everyone fighting the war against coronavirus for 1.3 billion people.

Fiji Sun received a video from one of the housing societies, DJA Apartment in New Delhi, India, where people are showing their gratitude on the request of their Prime Minster, Narander Modi. PM Modi in his address to the nation had called these service providers as warriors and asked the people of India to thank them at 5pm on Sunday by stepping out on their balconies and clapping.

India so far miraculously contained the killer virus but real test is ahead when the country will move into the third stage of crisis. More cities and states are being locked down and section 144 imposed in the national capital till March 31st which prohibits assembly of more than five people anywhere in the city. Delhi Metro services are reduced to bare minimum and all schools, colleges, restaurants and shopping malls are shut down till March 31st.
