Corp members urged to live peaceful with host communities

The FCT Minister of State, Dr Mariya Mahmoud, has advised members of the Batch C Stream ll of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to live peacefully with their host communities.

Dr Mahmoud made the call at the closing ceremony of the orientation course for corps members posted to the nation’s capital on Tuesday.

The minister, who was represented by the Mandate Secretary, FCT Youths and Sports Development Secretariat, Abdullahi Ango, said understanding the life and culture of the rural and urban communities, would elicit the best reaction from the people and make their service year meaningful.

Abuja Metro reports that a total of 4,768 registered corps members comprising 1,981 males and 2,787 females deployed to the FCT participated in the orientation course.

The FCT Coordinator of the NYSC, Mrs Winifred Shokpeka,said the scheme had remained a national asset that plays vital roles in the promotion of peaceful co-existence and national integration.
