Speaking to Daily Trust, president of the club, Dr. Fumu Bello, said that a minimum of 100 goats and sheep were vaccinated in the village against goat’s plague which usually attacked the animals during the beginning of rainy season.
Bello, a youth corps member serving with the Verterinary Teaching Hospital of the University of Agriculture, Makurdi also stressed that the villagers were sensitized during the exercise to ensure yearly repetition of the vaccine for their animals and to consult experts’ whenever the need arises to keep their animals fit.
Similarly, Bello’s group created awareness among the farming community which is situated along Makurdi-Lafia highway on how to rear their livestock in commercial quantity using the mechanized system of breeding.
Although, the corpers at the initial stage had the challenge of pulling the locals together for sensitization, however Bello noted that with the cooperation of the community leaders the problem was surmounted giving way to the success recorded in the exercise.
 The president expressed optimism that the CDS would expand its services to cover other areas of the state just as members of her group were happy that succour was on time for sick livestock which they treated at the village free of charge.
