A former head of state, Gen. Yakubu Gowon (rtd) says corps members are responsible for the unity of the country.
He said this in Abuja yesterday when the Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier-General Mohammed Kaku Fadah, paid him a familiarisation visit.

He said as long as youths continued leaving their states of origin and traditions for other states to have their one-year youth service, the nation would remain united.
Gowon urged corps members to remain good ambassadors of the scheme so that people would not call for the scrap of the scheme.
Earlier, Fadah appealed to Gowon to always support the scheme whenever they call upon him.
