The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Community Development Services (CDS) group in Kano, Theatre troupe has donated free wheelchairs to five physically challenged persons in the state.
Presenting the wheelchairs to the beneficiaries, the NYSC State Coordinator in the state, Alhaji Ladan Baba, said the gesture would impact on the lives of the beneficiaries.
Baba therefore called on other CDS groups to emulate the Theatre troupe group by rendering similar services to their host communities.
He said, “Corps members can achieve such an important gesture through various ways including mobilising donations from philanthropists, private and non-governmental organisations as well as government.”
Baba said the physically challenged persons were part of the society, hence, they should not be neglected by other members of the society.
He commended Kano state Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for donating hundreds of wheelchairs to physically challenged persons in the state.
On his part, the President of the Theatre troupe CDS group, Mr Solomon Samuel, said the donation was aimed at making the lives of the physically challenged persons better.
He said the lives of physically challenged children were bedevilled by lack of proper rehabilitation, appealing to government and individuals to come to their aid by shouldering their responsibilities and that of their children.
