The Nigerian Corpers HIV/AIDS Awareness Campaign Foundation has, as part of its Community Development Service (CDS), offered scholarships to 30 students to study in different secondary schools in Kaduna State.

President of the foundation, Benjamin Onoja, disclosed this at Government Secondary School, Sabo, where 10 students will study on the scholarship.

Onoja said 12 students were given scholarships to study at Government Secondary School (GSS), Kawo, while eight others were at Sardauna Memorial College (SMC).   

He said as cheap as the school fees might seem, there were many families who could not send their children to school for lack of funds. 

One of the beneficiaries, Mercy Bitrus, expressed happiness, saying the Peer Educators Club formed by the fund in schools “helps people to make decisions about HIV/AIDS. We also educate the club members on prevention of the virus and other sexually transmitted diseases,” she said.
