Corps members urged to live peacefully with host communities

The FCT Minister of State, Dr Mariya Mahmoud, has urged members of the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) to relate with the FCT communities peacefully.

The minister made call during the closing ceremony of the 2025 Batch ‘A’ Stream II Orientation Course at the Kubwa Permanent Orientation camp in Abuja on Tuesday

According to her, “As you go into the FCT communities for your primary assignment, your association with the rural and urban citizens should be developmental and peaceful in nature. This will elicit the best reaction from the people and make your service year more meaningful.”

Dr Mariya, who was represented by the Mandate Secretary, Youth and Sports Development Secretariat and Chairman NYSC FCT Governing Board,  Lawal Kolo Geidam, said, “It is under these conditions that your predecessors served and greatly contributed to the socio-economic development of the FCT.”

The minister charged the corps members to take advantage of the invaluable opportunities in the NYSC service and build on them in order to generate wealth as well as advance the course of development of Nigeria.

The NYSC FCT Coordinator, Mr Ateli Samson, while congratulating the corps members on the successful completion of the orientation courses, said they were posted according to areas of discipline and specialization across the six area councils of the FCT.
