Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State has called for the switch to unicameral legislature to cut down the cost of governance.
Receiving members of the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation in his office, Al-Makura said Nigeria needed to strengthen the existing system of governance for prudence and effectiveness.
He faulted the clamour for restructuring, which he said was being encouraged by ‘some elements who are hiding to promote hate speeches and indoctrination against established system.”
Speaking earlier, Chairman of Advisory Council of Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation Hon Justice Mamman Nasir said the clamour for restructuring and threats of some groups to dismember the country should not be viewed with carefulness.
