The Games will take place in Abidjan, the capital of Cote d’Ivoire.

The ECOWAS Commissioner for Human Development and Gender, Dr. Adrienne Diop made this known while speaking at the closing ceremony of the 2nd Edition in Ghana.

She reiterated the need for West African countries to imbibe the spirit of oneness which according to her, was the reason for the Games.

The 2nd Edition which took place from 16th to 22 of June 2012 was hosted and won by Ghana.

Ghana won 17 Gold, 11 Silver and 9 Bronze medals to top the medals table.

Nigeria took the second position with 13 Gold, 16 Silver and 6 Bronze medals.

The third position was snatched by Senegal which won 4 Gold, 1 Silver and 2 bronze medals at the end of the Games.

The fourth position went to Niger with 2 Gold, 1 Silver and 3 bronze medals while Cote D’ivoire won 2 Gold 0 and 1 Bronze medal to pick the fifth spot.

Eleven West African countries competed in Volleyball, Handball, Traditional Wrestling, Boxing and Athletics in the Games.

The Ghana Minister of Sports, Clement Kofi Humado also expressed satisfaction with the organization of the Games.
