The hybrid diesel project is an expensive but it does not change the fact that whoever is using it is still polluting the environment in a reduced rate. For the fact that developed countries are becoming more stringent on levels of pollution from vehicle here in Nigeria we will have a lot of catching up to do in the automotive sector. But until that time its best to prepare. To start with the most of the level engine used here in Nigeria are Euro 3 engine. Still with that we don’t have enough expertise manage them. That is why it is often safer to deal with your dealers whose services are expensive.

It is also in the light of hybrid diesel we got a story of Peugeot announcing  its 3008 Hybrid4, the world’s first diesel hybrid car. Using a 163bhp 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine and an electric motor, the 3008 Hybrid 4 offers 74.4mpg and carbon dioxide emissions of 99g/km.

These are not earth-shattering figures given there are plenty of cars with normal diesel engines capable of similar, if not better, economy and emissions. However, Peugeot is moving in the right direction with the 3008 Hybrid4 as it can take you from London to Edinburgh without the worry of finding a charging point or the fear of running out of battery power in the middle of nowhere.

There is also the not inconsiderable benefit of the 3008 Hybrid4 being every bit as comfortable, practical and good to drive as any other car from the 3008 range.

So, the next time someone tells you that your company car is killing the planet, you’ll be able to tell them it’s us business drivers that are doing more than our fair share to slow the damage caused by cars to the environment. Of course, there’s also the debate about whether global warming even exists or not, but that’s a lengthy discussion for another day…
