The registrar of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, Alhaji Faruk Umar  Abubakar has been conferred with the ‘2019 Nurse of the Year Award’  by Nursing World Nigeria.

Abubakar who has clinched the award for the third year running was recognized for his leadership and outstanding contributions to nursing in the country.

Since his appointment three years ago, he has ensued nursing education reforms, accreditation of more nursing institutions,  registration  of nurses and midwives, production of licenses , induction of  foreign trained nurses and provision of requisite infrastructure, among others.

Course Coordinator, Nursing World Nigeria, Anthony Nwaobi urged the registrar to sustain the momentum as the council continued to promote excellence in nursing and midwifery education and practice in Nigeria.

He said the board of Nursing World Nigeria was guided by sets of values in determining who deserved recognition.
